Freedom from Your Hurts, Hang-ups, and Habits! You’re probably thinking, ‘What am I doing on this page? I am not an alcoholic or a recovering drug addict!’ Well, what about anger and rage? How about insecurity? Fear? Co-dependency? Unhealthy relationship? Overspending? Financial loss? These are from a list of about 20 issues Celebrate Recovery identifies as hurts, hang-ups, and habits. AND, they keep you from being the unique individual God created you to be! Celebrate Recovery team members are passionate about God’s people living to their maximum God-given potential. “If you are at a point in your life where you do not have victory over any one of these issues, you need to come and spend a year with us!” Team Member Ron Carnes says. Experience Hope! Typically, when people think of recovery, they think about alcohol and drugs which are major life issues affecting people’s lives. (And, if these are issues for you, please join the Celebrate Recovery team!) Like many other habits, hang-ups, and hurts, drugs and alcohol are not really the issue. They are symptoms of underlying problems. Are they postponing or preventing great relationships with family, friends, co-workers, and even God? A Well-Worn Path! Take a walk down this path and mentally check-off any of the following hurts, hang-ups, and habits that fit you: aAbandonment & Rejection aAbuse – Physical, Sexual, Emotional aAdult Children of Dysfunctional Families aAlcohol, Drug, and Chemical Dependency aAnger & Rage aAnxiety, Fear, & Insecurity aCo-Dependency & Unhealthy Relationships aControlling Personality aDepression & Loss of Hope aDivorce & Loss of Relationship aEating Disorders – Over-eating, Under-Eating aGambling aGrief & Sadness aObsessive-Compulsive Behavior aOverspending & Financial Loss aOverworking & Workaholism aPeople-Pleasing aPerfectionism aSexual Addiction – Adultery, Pornography, Homosexuality Progress Not a Quick Fix! Celebrate Recovery is a process that helps people understand there are things in their lives that they are not handling well. Celebrate Recovery is here to help you pinpoint issues most people either don’t want to deal with or don’t know how to deal with them from a Biblical perspective. Taking Off the Mask! Celebrate Recovery has two major components: The Step Study, which follows the 12 Steps and 8 Recovery Principles for a Christ-centered Recovery program, requires a one-year commitment. This study meets at 9am on Sunday mornings. The Step Study consists of four Celebrate Recovery workbooks. Sunday morning classes feature a teaching time; homework discussion and a time of sharing. Upon completion of the first workbook, the class is closed to newcomers. At this point, with a high level of trust built, the group is ready to tackle the hurts, hang-ups, and habits, which participants have done to others and/or have had done to them. A Turning Point in Your Life! The second component is a Friday evening support group, run according to Celebrate Recovery 12-Step and 8-Recovery Principles’ guidelines. Meeting at 7pm every Friday, the evening opens with praise and worship, followed by introductions and announcements. There is a time of teaching or testimony before breaking up into small share groups, based on issues by men and women. Meetings typically close with fellowship and dessert. Let God Work through Us to Provide Healing! Do you know someone (inside or outside the church) who is struggling with the kind of hurts, hang-ups, and habits described on this webpage? Do them (and yourself) a favor with eternal implications and invite them to Celebrate Recovery. Give them this website’s address. Encourage them to speak with members of the Celebrate Recovery team to learn how this unique program can bring about real change in his or her life! Celebrate Recovery offers lasting hope by “celebrating recovery” God’s way – with His power, His grace, and His love. Encourage them to give Celebrate Recovery a try and watch those changes they have been striving for happen with God’s help! Then, be prepared to move from bondage to the freedom Jesus offers us! |
